(KACST) is an independent scientific organization of the Saudi Arabian Government, established in 1977 under the name of Saudi Arabian National Center for Science ‎& Technology (SANCST) and later in 1985 renamed as 'King Abdul-Aziz City for Science & Technology (KACST)'.

KACST is a governmental institution that have its own independent body and it’s attached to the prime minister directly and it’s headquarter is located in Riyadh. KACST is supporting and encouraging the scientific researches for academic and practical purposes, also the coordination of the activities of the scientific research centers to meet with the developmental requirements in the kingdom. More over it collaborate with the concerned specialized agencies to determine the national priorities in the scientific & technical fields in order to establish a solid technical data base to serve the developmental aspects in the agricultural & industrial fields and working on the enhancing the national scientific leaders and bring the capable ones to work with KACST in developing and mastering the new technical methods to serve the developmental plans in the kingdoms. KACSAT have the requirements of the proper scientific researches such as the fully equipped labs and modern communication and information resources.

Through the way of connecting all the Saudi universities together through the internet  KACSAT is providing variety  of information to the researchers in several fields of knowledge and technology , also through the continuous development of its own scientific library and the DVD library , participating in Arabic and international research journals , publishing books & magazine , conducting seminars and TV & Radio programs , publishing in the local newspapers in order to enlighten the community with the importance of education & technology , and contribution in solving certain difficulties that may face the national developmental plans.

KACST have collaborated for the first time with (King Abdul Aziz and his men Est. for talents) to organize a specialized program aiming for discovering talented people and enrich their technical knowledge and that happened by hosting 40 students from different geographical location within the kingdom then gave them the chance to practice their own knowledge by participating in one of the developmental projects that is done by KACST.

KACST contributions towards the educational process is represented clearly by sponsoring the Saudi International Exhibition for education & training along with Ejad Arabia and preparing the commercial campaign  and providing the place to accommodate that event.

KACST is governed by a Supreme Committee, which is chaired by the Prime Minister (the King) and is composed of the ministers of the major ministries to which science and technology are of greatest relevance.
